MENDOTA – The 62nd Annual Graduation Concert, featuring the Mendota High School Band, will be held on Tuesday, April 24. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Mendota High School Auditorium.

Musical selections include a blend of old and new. The ensemble will perform two relatively new and exciting works for band, including “Illumination” by David Maslanka, and “Shattering Infinity” by Benjamin Taylor. Those pieces are balanced by Ralph Vaughan Williams’ setting of the hymn tune “Rhosymedre” and Charles Wiley’s “Old Scottish Melody.” The program will also feature the Mendota High School Clarinet Choir and Percussion Choir.

The Graduation Concert is the last performance by the 2018 Senior Band Class, which includes: Addison Arjes, Bobby Arteaga, Karina Arteaga, Blaire Collins, Kevin Cuevas, Jessie Dooley, Adrian Espinoza, Patrick Foley, Hunter Gonzales, Gerudiel Hermosillo, Madeline Hoelzer, Natalie Landgraf, Amy Lewis, Bianca Rodriguez, Pamela Taylor, and Cheyenne West.

In addition to recognizing this year’s seniors, Mendota High School Directors Chris Dortwegt and Lori Schrock will present end-of-the-year awards, including the Oris Setchell Elias Scholarship, John Becker Memorial Award, and the prestigious John Philip Sousa Award.
