MENDOTA – Mendota High School’s cross country team hosted runners from Dixon, Streator, Oregon and Hall on Oct. 9 at its home course at Lake Mendota.
In the girls’ race, Madison Vanoosten of Dixon paced the field in a time of 20:34. Taylor Hills and Paige Riley, also of Dixon, placed second (20:53) and third (21:08).
Mendota’s top finish belonged to Jamie Dooley in 23rd place with a time of 23:53. Other times and places for the Lady Trojans were Lily Linden, (26:27, 38th), Piper Artman (33:56, 46th) and Zanae Mayfield (35:59, 47th).
Dixon’s perfect 15 took first-place honors in the team standings, followed by Oregon (57) and Streator (68). Hall and Mendota did not field complete teams.
In the boys’ race, Rafael Pantoja of Streator won in 17:26, followed by Oregon’s Andy Harshman (17:37) and Dixon’s Christian Seagren (17:50).
Andrew Stamberger was Mendota’s top finisher in 16th place with a clocking of 19:06. Other Trojan participants were Trent Stamberger (19:57, 23rd), Alex Hermosillo (20:24, 31st), Ty Connelly (20:32, 32nd), Sam Lawrence (22:01, 41st), Nevin Fouke (22:58, 45th), Hunter Siebert (24:20, 51st) and Liam Indigo (25:21, 52nd).
The Dixon boys won with 25 points, followed by Streator (59), Oregon (88), Hall (95) and Mendota (110).
