MENDOTA – The Mendota City Council handled a few items of business at its first meeting of 2018 on Jan. 2.
Reporting for alderman Jim Fitzpatrick in his absence, alderman Walt Weiland presented a request by Holy Cross School to hold its second annual Shamrock 5K run/walk on Saturday, March 10, using certain city streets. The request was approved.
During Weiland’s report, he issued a plea for citizens to look out for and help their neighbors, especially those unable to shovel snow and maintain their properties during the harsh winter weather conditions.
Weiland thanked the city employees for their hard work keeping the city functioning during the extremely difficult weather conditions experienced toward the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018.
Mayor David Boelk wished everyone a happy, safe and prosperous new year.
