MENDOTA - The Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of their 2019 Shop Local promotion.

Cathy Burke of Mendota was the Grand Prize winner. Consolation prize winners were Juanita Sondgeroth of Mendota, 2nd prize; Gretta Bates of LaMoille, 3rd prize; and Sandy Whitmer of Mendota, 4th prize. The winners received gift baskets filled with prizes.

The Shop Local promotion ran from Nov. 16 through Dec. 31. For every $10 spent at a participating Mendota business, cardholders received a sticker to put on their cards.

Completed cards were due to the Chamber office by Jan. 3 to be entered to win the grand prize gift basket worth over $1,000 in prizes. Three consolation gift baskets contained over $300 in merchandise and gift cards and 10 additional consolation winners received $20 in Chamber Gift Certificates.

This year, a total of 1,036 completed Shop Local promotional cards were turned in, which is $259,000 that was tracked as spent in Mendota during the promotion (an increase of $77,750 from 2018).

Consolation prize winners who each received $20 in Chamber Bucks include Betty Phalen, Sharon Bruckwell, Jess Allen, Joanne McNally, Steve and Berta Patterson, Jill Wohrley and Jessica Milweski, all of Mendota; Andrew Belan and Larry Schwartzbach, both of West Brooklyn; and Renee Lee of Earlville.

The Chamber expressed their appreciation to everyone who took part and for shopping local this holiday season.
