Meetings, practices set for Mendota fall sports

MENDOTA – All Mendota High School fall sports participants must turn in a physical examination by a licensed physician, attend the mandatory rules meeting on Sunday, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m., and sign the proper forms before the first scheduled practice. Football and golf players can practice Aug. 7 as long as they have a physical examination.

The practice schedules for the fall sports are as follow:

Cross Country – Practice will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 4:30 p.m. Participants should meet behind the school by the gym/cafeteria entrance. Contact Kevin Wohrley at 815-538-2389 for more information.

Cheerleading – Will issue uniforms on Monday, Aug. 14. Contact Coach Cady Schmidt @ [email protected] for more information

Football – Practice will begin on Monday, Aug. 7 from 7-8 a.m. and 8 p.m. (helmets only) – full practice schedule available online. There will be a parent meeting right after the rules meeting on Aug. 6 in room 304. Contact head coach Brock Sondgeroth at [email protected] for more information.

Golf – Practice begins Monday, Aug. 7 at 6 a.m. at the Mendota Golf Course. Contact Coach Brian Blumhorst at [email protected] for more information.

Girls’ Tennis – Practice will begin Wednesday, Aug. 9 from 8-10 a.m. and will continue Aug. 10 and 11 at the MHS tennis courts. Contact Shawn LeRette at [email protected] for more information.

Boys’ Soccer – Practice begins Wednesday, Aug. 9 at the grass field from 8-9:30 a.m. for all players and 8-10 a.m. for returning varsity and all goalkeepers. Contact head coach Jason Artman at [email protected] for more information.

Volleyball – Tryouts will be held Aug. 9-11 from 8-9 a.m. and 4-7 p.m. There will be a mandatory student meeting for those ladies interested in participating in volleyball this fall on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Contact coach John Holzman at [email protected] for more information.
