MAYTOWN – The sewing group from St. Patrick’s Parish, Maytown, recently gathered with Debbie Ward, a representative from Samaritans Purse, “Operation Christmas Child,” who had requested donations of dresses and shorts for her church’s Christmas boxes.

These boxes, from Christ Community Church in Princeton, are sent all over the world to children in need. Maytown’s sewing group donated 71 dresses and 55 pairs of shorts this year.

The sewing group meets weekly in St. Patrick’s Parish Hall from April through November for sewing and fellowship.

The sewing group “Little Dresses for Africa” began sewing in 2011. So far, the group has made, with the help of others, almost 6,000 dresses and hundreds of shorts. Fabric and sewing notions have been donated and appreciated.
