SHERRARD – Mendota’s wrestling team returned to the mat after the holiday break by competing in a quadrangular meet at Sherrard on Jan. 8.

The Trojans dropped a 71-3 decision to the host school. Mendota’s lone win was a 9-5 decision by Aaron Garza in the 220-pound weight class.

Oregon defeated the Trojans, 42-12. Garza recorded another victory for Mendota, this time a pin win at the 2:13 mark. Ty Connelly won by forfeit at 145 pounds.

Mendota was shutout by Sterling Newman, 63-0.
