Ella Massey, right, receives the Jeanne McKenzie Student Athlete Award, March 10. Presenting the award to Massey is volleyball coach, Julia Miller. The award was started in 2013 by a team of eighth grade teachers in honor of Jeanne McKenzie, former Northbrook Middle School teacher and volleyball coach. The award is given each spring to a NMS eighth grade volleyball player who excels both on the court and in the classroom. Massey’s parents Chad and Melinda Massey, and brother, Jack, also were there to see her receive the award. (Reporter photo by Jennifer Sommer)
