WEST BROOKLYN - Martin D. Eddy, 57, of West Brooklyn passed away Feb. 7, 2021 at OSF St. Anthony’s Medical Center, Rockford.

Memorial services will be held in June with burial at Melugin Cemetery. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.

Marty was born May 4, 1963 in Mendota to Alan and Leatricia “Tish” (Withrow) Eddy.

Survivors include his mother, Tish of Mendota; a sister, Tammy and brother-in-law, Jean Gordon of Bradenton, Fla.; a niece, Asya (Fred) Stolz of Salt Lake City, Utah; a nephew, Beau (Amanda) Gordon of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three great-nephews, Jackson, Parker and Torin; one great-niece, Ailyn Grace; a favorite uncle, Larry Eddy of West Brooklyn and aunt, Vicky Thomas of Ottawa.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2014 and a special dog, Angie.

Marty was a 1982 graduate of Mendota High School. He began working at the age of 10 as a paperboy in Compton and continued being a dedicated employee in various jobs until his health forced him to stop working. His passion was farming and he lived for harvest time. He helped many area farmers over the years. Marty was loved and respected by many and he genuinely cared about others and did not worry about personal gain. He leaves behind many life-long friends, cherished friendships and wonderful memories. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, he would go to the ends of the earth for you.
