MENDOTA - Marjorie “Marge” A. Sondgeroth, 91, of Mendota, passed away June 11, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, Rockford.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 17 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Peterstown with Father Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. on June 17 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.

Marge was born Feb. 10, 1930 in Mendota to Albert and Helena (Becker) Sondgeroth, the oldest of three children.

She was raised on the family farm and helped raise and acted as the “second mother” to Ray and Bernice Corrigan’s five children, Tom (Jo Ann) Corrigan of Mendota, Ted (Sara) Corrigan of Decatur, Dennis (Bonnie) Corrigan of East Peoria, and Connie (Leo) Quick and Julie (Tim) Setchell, both of Mendota. She was also very “grandmotherly” to their 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Brooks; one sister-in-law, Juanita Sondgeroth; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Art; and one grandson, Gabriel Corrigan.

Marge was employed by the Mendota Sport Shop for over 30 years. She was also known for her excellent baking skills. Her family especially loved her cinnamon rolls, which made each Christmas morning brunch so special.

Memorials may be directed to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church or Holy Cross Church, Mendota. Online condolences may be left at www.merrittfh.com.
