Marilyn was born in Chicago on Nov. 26, 1944, to John and Eleanor (Hansen) Davis. She graduated Geneva High School in 1964, a year late after being ill for a year with rheumatic fever. After meeting the love of her life, Martin Blacksmith at the St. Charles Bicycle Club, she married him on Aug. 1, 1970 at the Methodist church in Geneva.
She will be missed by her husband Marty of Mendota; daughter Heather (Andrew) Rios of Bristol; sons Christian Blacksmith and Tim (Kaitlyn) Blacksmith of New Haven, Conn.; six grandchildren, Brittany Rios, Tyler Rios, Anna Rios, Emma Rios, Khiana Blacksmith, Kiara Blacksmith; three great-grandchildren, Bella, Kai and Zander; and former daughter-in-law Melanie Blacksmith.
Marilyn was a kind soul with a lovely sense of humor. She was the kind of person you feel as though you've known forever. Marilyn was a knitter, an amateur photographer, a coloring book artist and played guitar and piano. Following her mother, she was a generational birdwatcher and passed this love to her daughter who in turn passed to Marilyn's granddaughters. She loved nature in all its glorious forms, but particularly birds.
Marilyn was a devoted member of Community Methodist Church.
