PERU - Manford W. Sheridan, 93, of Peru, formerly of Mendota, passed away Sept. 9, 2017 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Holy Cross Church in Mendota with Rev. Peter Pilon officiating. Private burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation is from 9-11 a.m. on Sept. 13 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Manford was born July 1, 1924 in Moundville, Mo. to Pat and Stella (Worsley) Sheridan. He married Rose Mary Fitzgerald on April 14, 1945 at St. Mary’s Church, Utica. She preceded him in death on Dec. 21, 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie (Lynn) Brewbaker of St. Louis, Mo. and Debbie Sheridan of Spring Valley; one son, Bob (Kathi) Sheridan of Mendota; two grandsons, Scott (Heidi) Sheridan of Elgin and Kevin (Jean) Sheridan of Mendota; and three great-grandchildren, Thomas, Nicholas and Clara Sheridan.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters, Deloris Heitz and Patty Gedymin.
Manford farmed in the Triumph area for 68 years. He was a lifetime member of the Mendota Elks Lodge. He was an avid reader and enjoyed telling stories and working on his computer.
