Louis C. Barr

ANDOVER, Kan. – Louis C. Barr, 89, of Andover, Kan., passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 16, 2022 at the Catholic Care Center.
Rosary will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10 a.m. A luncheon will follow. Interment will take place at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery of Winfield on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 2 p.m., following the luncheon.
Louis was born Aug. 24, 1933, the son of Arthur and Isabella (Harth) Barr. He graduated from Saint Bede Academy in Peru, and later received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Louis was united in marriage to Jeanne Plante on July 20, 1963, in Fall River, Mass.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Yates; son Peter Barr; grandchildren, Maydelline Chang, Gabriela (Barr) Wright and husband KJ (Kedrick), Shaylee Yates, Hannah Barr, Naomi Barr, Benjamin Barr; and great-grandchildren, Stephen, Kathleen and Kahlani.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents, wife Jeanne Barr, and son Joseph Barr.
Louis was drafted into the Army in 1953 where he served two years. Afterwards, he served in the Air Force as a pilot until 1976. He later worked for Life Watch and the Flight Safety Academy.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Donations may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
