SHERWOOD, Ore. - Lonnie Wayne Bunfill, 70, of Sherwood, Ore. passed away May 8, 2021 in Tualatin, Ore.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 19 at Horizon Community Church in Tualatin, Ore. with Pastor Stan Russell officiating. For those unable to attend, the service will be streamed live at https://live.horizoncommunity.church/. Private burial for family only will be at Pleasant View Cemetery on June 18.

Lonnie was born April 1, 1951 in Beardstown to Lozelle and Donna Bunfill. He and Sherri were married in Ottawa on March 22, 1975.

Survivors include his wife, Sherri of Sherwood, Ore.; two daughters, Rebecca Erickson of Shreveport, La. and April Himes of Olympia, Wash.; one son, Benjamin Bunfill of Spokane, Wash.; two brothers, Tom Bunfill of Sullivan and Keith Bunfill of Creal Springs; two sisters, Vicki Peterson of Sullivan and Felicia McEntire of Athens, Texas; his parents, Lozelle and Donna Bunfill of Sullivan; and 14 grandchildren, Isaac, Isabelle, Arielle, Bruny, Brunel and Aliya Erickson of Shreveport, La., Adalie, Kylia, Zoie and Leilani Himes of Olympia, Wash., and Hannah, Sarah, Josiah and Malachi Bunfill of Spokane, Wash.

Lonnie graduated from Mt. Sterling High School in 1969 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in business from Western Illinois University. He and Sherri made their first home in Mt. Sterling, where Lonnie continued farming with his father. In December 1975 they moved to Albany, Ore. to plant a church. He worked as a material man, truck driver, storekeeper and foreman for PacifiCorp Electrical Company for 38 years. He enjoyed gardening, hiking, reading, traveling, laughing, exploring, bird watching, singing and spending time with his family as much as possible. He was involved at his church, Grace Community/Horizon Community in Tualatin, Ore. for 37 years. He was a deacon in the early years of his attendance, taught Sunday school, was an elder, a leader in the youth group for about 20 years, led life groups for over 10 years, and was a board member at Community Christian School. His motto: Every time the church doors are open, we get to be there!

Lonnie was a godly man who loved the Lord and brought up his family to know and serve the Lord. He and Sherri raised three amazing children they love and are very proud of. He was a devoted husband who showed his love and care for his wife every day for 46 years to be exact. He was fun-loving, adventurous and a joy to his family and was the heart of their home.
