MENDOTA - Lois Beetz, 99, of Mendota died Jan. 28, 2018 at Stonecroft Village, Mendota.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2 at Zion United Methodist Church, Mendota with Rev. Hogun Kim officiating. Burial will be at Waltham Cemetery, Waltham Township. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.

Lois was born Jan. 14, 1919 in Ottawa to Charles and Anna (Finley) Yates. She married Charles Beetz on June 7, 1944 at the Waltham Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, James (Marlys) Beetz of Amboy and William (Chris) Beetz of Mendota; five grandchildren, Tina (Rick) Eastabrooks, Laura (Eric) Pearson, Brian (Kathy) Beetz, Chad Beetz and Justin Beetz; two step-grandsons, Justin (Michelle) Walter and Nathan Walter; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Beetz; one sister, Evelyn Small; and one brother, Harold Yates.

Lois was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the True Blues. She always helped with kitchen duties and compiling the church newsletter for mailing. She enjoyed painting, sewing, reading and singing. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband for many years. Her family was very dear to her.
