MORRIS - After a very successful visit to the Mt. Morris Moose Club for their November show, First Fridays will return to the Pinecrest Grove Theater on Friday, Dec. 1. Musician sign-up will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the show will get started at 6 p.m.

Seating capacity at the Pinecrest Grove Community Center theater has been increased to guarantee a good seat for fans of First Fridays and the same musical format will continue. After the individual performances, all of the musicians will gather on stage for a jam session to wrap up the evening’s festivities.

Talented musicians from across Northern Illinois, and often also from neighboring states, appear on a regular basis. The music is often described as New Folk or Americana and is varied including country, bluegrass, blues, folk, mountain soul, gospel, soft rock, and eclectic mixes of all of the above.

Instruments are all acoustic and a professional sound system is supplied. Participation is encouraged, so bring an instrument and join the show or just kick back and listen to the music. Admission is by free will donation. Bring a friend and enjoy a great evening.

First Fridays is a part of Northern Illinois’ Friday night music scene along with 2nd Fridays in Lanark, 3rd Fridays in Franklin Grove, a new 4th Friday at the Dixon Senior Center, and special 5th Friday (when they occur) shows in Franklin Grove.

Pinecrest Grove Community Center is located six blocks south of State Route 64 on McKendrie Street in Mt. Morris. There is ample parking in the lot on the north side of the community center, plus an overflow lot on the west side. The building is completely accessible.
