Lincoln students go bald for a cause

MENDOTA – The Utica Fire Department hosted the 12th Annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fundraiser at Senica’s Oak Ridge in LaSalle, March 24. This year, over $25,000 was raised at the event and events across the country have raised more  than $22 million.

Klaire Knaff was honored as this year’s top fundraiser, raising over $4,500 for St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Top team went to Team Lions, including Knaff and Ryder Woods, which raised over $7,500. Knaff, 3rd grade, and Woods, 4th grade, are students at Lincoln School. Classmate Kale Sack, 4th grade, and four other scouts from the Waltham Boy Scout Troop 797 shaved their head for the cause, as well. The Waltham Scouts raised over $3,700 earning second place team. In total, 46 people shaved their heads at the event.

By shaving their heads, Knaff, Woods, Sack, and many others are helping to raise awareness and the necessary funds to continue the fight against childhood cancer. For more information on St. Baldrick’s Foundation, visit
