MENDOTA - Leonard William “Bill” Lamkin, 78, of Mendota passed away Jan. 5, 2018 at Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago.
Per his wishes, there will be no service or memorial. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Bill was born Oct. 5, 1939 in Spring Valley to Alton and Doris Haywood Lamkin.
Survivors include his significant other of 17 years, Jennifer McCully of Mendota; five daughters, Kim (Joe) McCurrie, Monica (David) Lewalski and Pam Baker of Chicago, Billie Jo Lamkin of Arizona, and Wanda Lamkin of Mendota; one son, Jim (Pam) Lamkin Gibson City; eight sisters, Joyce Kohr of Cherry, Carol Anderson of Anaheim, Calif., Joan (Frank) Bartkus of Spring Valley, Sue Allen of Ladd, Janet (Don) Weber of Haw River, N.C., Adel Thompson of Peru, Nora (Mark) Geuther, and Jolyn Whitfield of LaMoille; two brothers, Mickey Lamkin of Troy Grove and Ricki Lamkin of Van Orin; 13 grandchildren, Jason, Tammy and Joshua Lewalski, Charlie, Daniel and Jeffery Baker of Chicago, Malarie Stallings, Meagen and Garrett Norton, and Brittany, Alton, Jessica and Dale Lamkin of Mendota; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Tommy; and one daughter, Mary Norton.
Bill had worked as a cook on the river barges and oil rigs in New Orleans.
