Lenten services continue March 27

MENDOTA – All are invited to join the continuing Wednesday morning Lenten services sponsored by the Mendota Church Women United. This ecumenical series of services will continue for the next three Wednesdays in Lent, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.

This year, the program is from “Twelve More Women of the Bible,” based on teachings from Karen Ehman, Bianca Juarez Olthoff, Lisa Halper, Chrystal Evans, Margaret Feinberg, and Courtney Joseph.

A time of worship, video presentation and small group discussion will be held each week.

Though this study, some of today’s best-loved authors look at the spiritual lessons learned from women in the Bible and what they mean for you today. You will look at these women’s successes and failures, see how they drew near to God in the midst of trials, and learn how they overcame rejection and disappointment. Their stories will inspire you to persevere through difficult times and find joy in the hope that Jesus has provided.

Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall after the service.

Upcoming services:

March 27 – The Shulamite Woman: We Had God at Hello, hosted by Zion United Methodist Church

April 3 – Ruth: Staying Focused in a World of Distractions, hosted by First United Methodist Church

April 10 – Puah and Shiprah: How to Fight Your Fears, hosted by St. John’s Lutheran Church

All services are held at First Presbyterian Church, 1003 5th Street, Mendota. The church is handicapped accessible.
