OTTAWA - The LaSalle County Genealogy Guild will meet on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 115 W. Glover, Ottawa. The August meeting will be a class in “Genealogy, Who Do You Think You Are? Where Do I Start? Where Do I Find Information?”
One function of the LaSalle County Genealogy Guild is to provide help to people doing research. The Guild has a great deal of information available including city directories, marriage records, obituaries, church records, county histories, military information, I&M Canal information, orphan trains, family histories, Mayflower history and much more.
The Guild also has computers that people can use to find a great deal of information. Often in genealogy research, people hit a brick wall and do not know where to go. If you find yourself in that situation, bring your dilemma to the meeting and Guild members will try to help. They also have free WiFi, so bring your laptop. Meetings are open to everyone.
