MENDOTA – Mendota and Rockford Christian locked horns in a Big Northern Conference girls’ soccer battle and the Lady Trojans won a 4-3 thriller on April 29 at the MHS field.
The Lady Trojans took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Esmeralda Perez at 10:40. Christian tied the match 14 minutes later, but Mendota got goals by Isabella Tolentino and Amellia Bromenschenkel late in the first half to grab a 3-1 halftime advantage.
Christian scored consecutive goals in the second half to even the score, but Perez got the game-winner for Mendota at the 78:47 mark.
Marissa Martin was in goal for the Lady Trojans.
