LA SALLE COUNTY - LaSalle County Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring a $1,000 Krenz Scholarship contest for LaSalle County high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores or juniors who are pursing programs of study in any field of agriculture, natural resources or environmental sciences.
The Mark Krenz Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Mark Krenz; a former officer and board member of the SWCD who showed leadership and determination in this organization as well as in his farming operation. The scholarship fund is to assist in the college education of a high school senior or current college student from LaSalle County. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of scholastic performance, service, character, determination and leadership.
The scholarship will be awarded in May or early June. The money will be paid directly to the school of choice upon proof of enrollment.
Application forms and information are available on the district’s website at www.lasalleswcd.org and are due by April 27.
