OGLESBY – The LaSalle County Retired Teachers Association held an executive board meeting on Oct. 22 at the Dickinson House in Oglesby.
Highlights of this Executive Board meeting included: Judy Ilgen reported on current legislative updates of concern to members;
Deb Torri presented her Foundation report on how the foundation helps retirees, current teachers and future teachers; Alice Joop kept members abreast of upcoming programs; and Janie Hoffmann and others discussed updates in the process of preparing the newsletter.
Unfinished business discussion included reflections on the September General Meeting, books for the Little Library and the Goodwill Donation, and the date of the annual TRS Membership Meeting, which will be held Oct. 24.
New Business matters discussed included scholarship presentation set for Oct. 23, 2019 Goal – Sunshine Committee, 2019 Goal – newsletter revamp, a breakfast meeting set for Feb. 25, 2019 at Sunfield Restaurant in Ottawa, and a winter social lunch.
Mark your calendars for the annual Winter Breakfast Meeting at Sunfield Restaurant in Ottawa on Monday, Feb. 25, 2019. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with breakfast at 9 a.m. The program is expected to be completed by around 11:30 a.m. The $10 breakfast fee is payable at the restaurant.
