MENDOTA - Larry Noles, 62 of Mendota passed away April 16, 2021 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Per Larry’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Wasmer Funeral Home is privileged to assist the family.

Larry was born Feb. 16, 1959 in Mendota to Olof and Iona (Clark) Noles. He married Patty Sondgeroth Badgett on July 3, 2000 in Rochelle.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Patty of Mendota; two sons, Brent (Jenni) Noles of Clarksville, Tenn. and Logan Noles of Mendota; one daughter, Amber Badgett of LaSalle; six grandchildren, Hunter, Wyatte, Brice, Hayley, Brantley and Paisley; one brother, Harold Noles of Macedonia; and two sisters, Barbie Gretencord of Ottawa and Brenda (Dale) Martin of Greenway, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joyce Schaefer; one brother-in-law, LaVerne Gretencord Jr.; and one sister-in-law, Sharon Noles.

During his work career, Larry spent more than 32 years with Rochelle Foods. He gave back to the community by being involved with the Mendota Moose Lodge and the Mendota Sportsman’s Club. An avid fisherman, Larry particularly enjoyed the Sportsman’s Kids Fishing Rodeo, which combined two of his favorite things - children and fishing. He delighted in helping kids learn to fish. Larry was the “pied piper” of his neighborhood. He provided freezer pops by the score and had small fish fries for the neighbor kids and their families. Everyone was welcome. It wasn’t uncommon for a child to knock on the door after Larry got home from work to see if he could come out and play. Larry also enjoyed gardening and grilling. He loved watching friends and family enjoy his cooking.
