PAW PAW - Kenneth Earl Kaiser, 74, of Paw Paw passed away Dec. 11, 2017.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14 at Paw Paw United Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Holden officiating. Interment will follow at Wyoming Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Paw Paw United Methodist Church, 370 Wiley Ave., Paw Paw.

Ken was born Jan. 31, 1943 in Paw Paw to Earl Philip and Phoebe (Grunderman) Kaiser.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Kaiser; one son, Danny (Katherine) Kaiser of Dwight; one brother, John (Linda) Kaiser; four grandchildren, Valerie (Brian) Reed, Ryan Kaiser, Lindsay Kaiser and Wesley Kaiser; one great-granddaughter, Kenlee Scarlet; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Darrin; one brother, Richard; and one sister, Marilyn Schmid.

Ken was a 1961 graduate of Paw Paw High School. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force and served our country for four years as a military police officer. Following his time in the service, he returned to his hometown and was soon hired by Northern Illinois University’s police department as a patrol officer. He worked his way through the ranks and ended his career as a lieutenant detective for the department. In 1974, he attended the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va., where he received special training in criminal investigation over a three-month period. He retired in 1992 after 27 years of service to the department. After retiring, he worked as a groundskeeper for both the Paw Paw and Earlville country clubs for 14 years. This job suited Ken’s unmatched work ethic and dedication to the people of his community and surrounding area. He was a dedicated member of the Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Department as well as American Legion Post 511 and Paw Paw United Methodist Church. His family was his pride and joy.
