MENDOTA - It is with great sadness that the family of Keith H. Barrett, 93, of Mendota announces his recent passing. Keith’s beautiful soul was peacefully lifted by God’s redeeming grace on Jan. 18, 2019 at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, Ga.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date with burial at Wisner Cemetery.

Keith was born June 18, 1925 in Sublette to John and Grace (Hotchkiss) Barrett. He married Eloise Irene Mear on Dec. 5, 1943 in Ashton.

Survivors include his adored wife of 75 years, Eloise; one son, Larry (Jeanne) Barrett of Mendota; two daughters, Nancy (Bob) Watkin of Peachtree City, Ga. and Cheryl (Jerry) Thorne of Sublette; one daughter-in-law, Sonia Barrett of Sublette; two sisters, Sandra Phalen of Mendota and Carol Weidman of Earlville; 17 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Barrett and Grace Scherger; his youngest son, Dennis Barrett on Jan. 5, 2019; and one brother, Bruce Scherger on March 15, 2018.

Keith and Eloise raised their four children in the farm community of Meriden. He farmed most of his life and owned his own painting and flooring companies. Keith took great joy in singing and dancing. The entire family cherishes a video taped last Thanksgiving of their 93-year-old father singing and dancing with their 93-year-old mother. He treasured his family above all else and took great pride in his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Words cannot describe the amount of love, strength, compassion, integrity, guidance and joyful laughter he brought to family and friends. Nor can any words describe how much he will be missed. Till we meet again…

Memorials may be directed to Brightmoor Hospice, Griffin, Ga.
