STERLING - Keep your brain fit and healthy from the comfort of home. Current research indicates that challenging the brain is one of several things you can do to contribute to your own brain health as you age. Challenging activities offer a way to train your brain and keep your wits fit.

The University of Illinois Extension has an extensive history of offering monthly in-person Wits Fitness Brain Exercises Classes regularly in many communities. While monthly Wits Fitness classes will return in the future, virtual classes will be added for those who would like to participate online.

Virtual Wits Fitness classes will be offered on the fourth Monday of each month at 10 a.m. starting July 27. Join Extension Educator Karla Belzer as she leads participants through interactive activities designed to exercise the brain to maintain and enhance cognitive function and memory. The monthly classes will be held on Zoom. Virtual Wits Fitness class dates for 2020 are July 27, Aug. 24, Sept. 28, Oct. 26, and Nov. 23.

Each virtual class is free and open to the public. Registration is required to receive log-on instructions. Participants may also join by phone and are welcome to join the class at any time.
