KC presents “Africa’s Great Civilizations”


MALTA – Kishwaukee College International Education Committee (IEC) will present the six-part documentary, “Africa’s Great Civilizations,” beginning Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Student Lounge, room C1130, on campus. The presentation will consist of one hour of documentary viewing and a half-hour follow up discussion. The event is free and open to the public.

In this six-hour series, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., revered author, filmmaker, essayist, literary critic, and professor, will guide viewers through the history of Africa, from the start of humankind to the early 20th century. Learn about Africa’s rich 200,000-year history, including the art, writing, and civilization itself, that shaped not only present day Africa but the world.

The documentary viewing will be held every Wednesday from Oct. 10 until Nov. 14. Viewers may attend any or all presentations. Assistant Professor of History and Honors Coordinator, Branden McCullough, will moderate discussion.
