MALTA – Kishwaukee College Continuing Education is offering classes in July on how to fly a drone (remotely piloted aircraft) at two skill levels for community members. Each class is for three hours and costs $15.
Drones 101: Beginner Class covers basic flying techniques, safety tips, pre-flight inspections, toy vs. professional drone, and applicable FAA registration and regulations. This class is designed for participants who are considering purchasing a drone or have recently purchased a drone and want basic instruction. Participants should not bring a drone to class; the instructor will demonstrate. The class meets on July 11 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be an additional section of Drones 101 offered on July 18 from 6-9 p.m.
Drones 102: Advanced Class covers aircraft safety, evaluating weather conditions, privileges afforded to professional drone operators vs. hobbyists, and FAA regulations pertaining to flight space. Some drone flying experience would enhance the participants’ class experience but is not required. Participants should not bring a drone to class; the instructor will demonstrate.
