KC hosts Illinois Regional College Fair on Nov. 1

Posted

MALTA – Kishwaukee College is hosting the annual Illinois Regional College Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the College gymnasium with a special presentation on financing a college education at 6-6:30 p.m. in Jenkins Auditorium. The College Fair and financial aid presentation are free and open to the public.

Each year, the Illinois Regional College Fair gives local students a chance to comparison shop post-high school options at colleges and universities by gathering information on academic programs, admissions requirements, and financial aid for several schools at a single location. The event is also recommended for Kishwaukee College students who are preparing to transfer to a four-year university.

At this year’s event, representatives from over 70 institutions, including colleges, universities, military programs, and trade schools, will be on hand to provide information materials and applications and answer questions. College shoppers will have access to representatives from Illinois schools as well as several out-of-state institutions from Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Colorado, plus more.

One of the Illinois Regional College Fair’s most popular events is the financial aid presentation with a question and answer session. The financial aid presentation has been widely attended at the College Fair in recent years, leaving standing room only in the auditorium.

There will also be an informational session on EMSA (Engineering, Math, Science Academy) from 6-6:30 p.m. in Room A1273 (the Kishwaukee College Conference Center Dining Room). EMSA is open to all high school juniors who may be interested in pursuing a college curriculum focused on science or engineering and who are currently enrolled in pre-calculus or trigonometry. EMSA provides students an opportunity to start their college career while still attending high school, offering at least 23 transferable and affordable college credits in upper level math and science courses before they even graduate from high school.
