AMBOY - Karen S. McGraw, 73, of Amboy, died Aug. 12, 2018 at the Mendota Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 16 beginning with a 10 a.m. prayer service at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Amboy with Rev. Timothy Draper, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Amboy. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 15 at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Karen was born May 15, 1945 in Amboy to John and Catherine (Faivre) McGraw.
Survivors include one son, John (Alice) McGraw of Amboy; one brother, Joseph (Susan) McGraw of Amboy; one grandson, Tyler Stewart of Amboy; two nieces, Stephanie (Zack) Galvan of Rochelle and Shannon McGraw of Amboy; and one nephew, David McGraw of Amboy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Juanita Nolan; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Nolan.
Karen worked as a mental health specialist at the Dixon Developmental Center for 19 years until it closed. She then worked as a cook for Snack n Go in Amboy for 17 years as well as the Mendota Lutheran Home for five years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy, the St. Patrick Women’s Club, and was an honorary mom for the Amboy Fire Department.
