MENDOTA - Judge Troy Holland was recently rated as “recommended” to be retained as a Circuit Judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit (LaSalle, Bureau and Grundy counties).
This month the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) released its statewide judicial evaluations/ratings poll for the Nov. 6 general election. The purpose of the ratings is to provide the public with information about the qualifications of judges seeking retention and judicial candidates. ISBA further states that the attorneys who appear before the judge and other judges are in a unique position to assess the professional qualities that are necessary for good judges.
The ISBA is a voluntary organization of 28,000 members that provides professional services to Illinois attorneys and education and services to the public. The statewide results are available at www.isba.org/YouBeTheJudge.
Judges seeking retention were rated on integrity, impartiality, legal ability, temperament, court management, health and sensitivity. Holland received a rating of 92.77 out of 100 in the “meets requirements of office” category. A judicial retention candidate that receives a score greater than 65 in the category of “meets requirements of office” is considered “recommended” for retention as a judge.
Holland received high ratings in all the other qualifying factors including 93.98 for integrity, 93.98 for impartiality, 90.36 for legal ability, 92.77 for temperament, 92.77 for court management, 96.39 for health and 95.18 for sensitivity.
Holland said he was humbled to receive such positive feedback from his judicial colleagues and the attorneys who appear in his courtroom on a regular basis. “I have been privileged to serve the citizens of the 13th Judicial Circuit for the last six years, and I would be honored to continue serving as their circuit judge,” he added.
Judicial retention questions are some of the last items on the Nov. 6 ballot. The vote is determined on a non-partisan, yes-no vote basis.
