EARLVILLE - Joy M. Hake, 84, of Earlville passed away Nov. 16, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Texas, surrounded by her loving family.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville with Pastor Del Keilman officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services at funeral home on Nov. 26. Burial will follow the services at Precinct Cemetery, rural Earlville. Local arrangements were handled by Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home.

Joy was born Sept. 23, 1935 in Jewell County, Kansas to Floyd and Artie McMurray. She married Lavern H. “Vern” Hake on Feb. 11, 1954 in Esbon, Kan. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Teresa (Terry) Brown of Brazoria, Texas; two sons, David (Connie) Hake of Eddyville, Ky. and Ron (Dana) Hake of Golconda; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Michael; one daughter, Deborah; two brothers, Glen and Gerald McMurray; and one niece, Janie McMurray.

Joy worked at Marathon Electric and CTS Knights. She enjoyed luncheons with her friends, working in her yard, and visiting daily on the phone with friends and family. She looked forward to the outings with her dear friend, Karen and Sunday breakfasts with her son, David.
