MENDOTA - Joseph E. Chandler, 87, of Mendota passed away Nov. 6, 2019 at Heritage Health, Mendota.
Private graveside services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota at a later date.
Joseph was born June 18, 1932 in East Grove Township to Fred and Susie (Sharkey) Chandler. He married Marcella (Sally) Hamann on June 30, 1956 at Holy Cross Church, Mendota.
Survivors include his wife of Mendota; one daughter, Lannette (Don) Cleary of Mendota; two sons, Mike (Pam Schlegle) Chandler of Spring Valley and Jim (Doreen) Chandler of Mendota; one sister, Donna Novak of Iowa; six grandchildren, Tyler Kent, Courtney Tucker, Dominik Chandler, Nathan Chandler, Dustin Kent and Jacob Chandler; and eight great-grandchildren, Aiden, Delila, Delaney, Landon, Emerson, Grayson, Elliot and Kendall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Anna Larson; and one brother, Leo Chandler.
Joseph attended Amboy schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He farmed in Maytown until 1973 and worked at Conkey’s in Mendota as a welder for several years. He was a member of Holy Cross Church and Mendota VFW Post 4079.
