EARLVILLE - The Earlville Lions Club will have their Annual Lions Fest on Saturday, June 23 at Dodge Park in Earlville.

This year’s events will include a parade, Pork Chop Dinner, Draw Down, Kids Water Fights, games in the park, church food booths, beer garden and a free Street Dance with music by “Peace Road Band.” Also this year, they will have bluegrass music and a mini car show in the afternoon.

The parade will assemble at noon and begin at 1 p.m. Pre-registration is not necessary.

Tickets for the Draw Down are $40, which includes two pork chop dinners. Tickets are available at McConville Realty & Auctioneering in Mendota, First State Bank Insurance, the Barber Shop and from Earlville Lions Club members. First prize will be $1,000, 2nd prize $500, 3rd prize $250 along with many other cash prizes. “Early Bird Drawings” are June 1 for $100 and June 15 for $50.

Pork Chop Dinner tickets may also be purchased that night. Serving will be from 4:30–6:30 p.m. and carry outs will be available.

In keeping with the Earlville Lions motto, “We Serve” the organization has been instrumental in the summer ball program, Helping Hands with free food distributions to the needy, eyeglasses for the needy, scholarships, Boys and Girls state, downtown Christmas decorations, as well as many other community activities.

The area economy has made selling tickets to the draw down very difficult, but this year without the support of the community, the Lions will not be able to support these and other programs.

Due to the age of Earlville Lions members, they in need of younger members to join. Membership is open to men and women. The future of the Earlville Lions’ ability to serve the community is in the hands of the community’s young people. Please contact an Earlville Lions member to join the Lions. Membership dues are $65 per year, which includes memberships in the Earlville Lions, Lions International and the Illinois State Lions.
