AMBOY - John W. “Jack” Deery, 68, of Amboy died Jan. 12, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maytown with Rev. Randy Froenik officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael/Sandy Hill Cemetery. Afterward, a luncheon will be held at the Ellice Dinges Center in Sublette. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
Jack was born April 18, 1951 in Dodgeville, Wis. to James and Mary Rose (McDermott) Deery. He married Cynthia Warnock on Feb. 2, 1971 in Ottawa.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Brian (Brenda) Deery of Sublette, Chad (Linsey) Deery of Ohio and Eric (Kimberly) Deery of Dixon; three grandchildren, Maddilyn, Bryson and Cole; one sister, Patricia (Dan) Clowers of Clay City; and his special furry friend, Si.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeffrey Allen Deery; his guardian angel, Ruby Jensen; and special friend, Ben Nelson.
Jack was a supervisor at Motor Wheel in Mendota for 30 years and drove a truck for McLaughlin Farms. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors and enjoyed being a shade tree mechanic.
