COMPTON - John L. Didlinger, 77, of Compton passed away Oct. 23, 2018 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, Oct. 29 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton with Rev. Jeff Schlesinger officiating. Cremation rites will follow the funeral. Private burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services on Oct. 29 at the church.
John was born Nov. 20, 1940 in Vincennes, Ind. to Carl and Elmeretta (Simms) Didlinger. He married Janice Mae Olson, the love of his life, on April 10, 1965 in Elgin. She preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 2011.
Survivors include his son, John “Butch” Julie (Hays) Didlinger of Oregon; one granddaughter, Jillian Woolsey of Dixon; and two great-grandchildren, Juliana Mae and Jacob Robert, whom will fondly remember him as Great Paw.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
John graduated from Dundee High School in 1958 and shortly thereafter began a lifelong career at Elmhurst Chicago Stone in Elmhurst. He eventually became a plant supervisor working until his death at a job he deeply felt proud to be a part of all of his life. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
