MENDOTA - John I. Klein, 84, of Mendota passed away Aug. 1, 2018 at Heritage Health, Mendota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Peterstown. Burial will be at the church cemetery with full military rites performed by Mendota V.F.W. Post 4079. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6 at the Schwarz Funeral Home, Mendota.
John was born on the family farm May 22, 1934 to Harry and Helen (Moyer) Klein.
Survivors include two sisters, Joan Winstead of Mendota and Christine Bankes of Mendota, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Klein; and a sister in infancy.
John graduated from Mendota High School in 1952, entered the U.S. Navy in 1953 and was discharged in 1961. In 1958, he started working for H.D. Hume and in 1959, he began working for Conkey’s (later known as Spartan Tool) where he was the data processing department manager. He retired on Dec. 31, 2001 after 42 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
