SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - John “Jack” Edward Tieman, 91, formerly of Mendota, died Jan. 11, 2018 in Sheboyan Senior Community, Sheboygan, Wis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Ronald Margherio officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota with military rites by VFW Post 4079. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

John was born Aug. 27, 1926 in Spring Valley to William J. and Catherine (Hicks) Tieman. He married Verda Yenerich. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include one son, Randy (Peggy) Tieman; one daughter, Sherry (Jim) Dagley; three grandchildren, David Dagley, Katie and Elise Tieman; one niece, Marci Yenerich; and three nephews, Phil Yenerich, Scott and Jack Wike.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, Ray and Bill Wike; and two sisters, Lillian Wike and Catherine Walter.

Jack served with the U.S. Navy during World War II with the Destroyer Escort 220 Atlantic Fleet. He was a member of Mendota VFW Post 4079, Mendota Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge 1212 (past exalted ruler), the Mendota Golf Club, and the St. Bede Academy Athletic Hall of Fame. He played baseball with the St. Louis Cardinal’s minor league teams. He was a production control manger for Combined Communications Services in Mendota, which later became R. R. Donnelly.
