MENDOTA - JoAnn Kay Fitzgerald, 78, of Mendota went peacefully home to be with her Lord Jesus on March 11, 2019.
Memorial services will be held at noon on Saturday, March 16 at Victory Baptist Church, Mendota with Rev. Steven Breedlove officiating. Private burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota at a later date. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday at the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.
JoAnn was born on a farm outside of Blue Earth, Minn. on April 22, 1940 to Lloyd and Marian (Boettcher) Neuhalfen. She married David Fitzgerald on May 26, 1993 and they celebrated 25 joyous years together in May of 2018.
Survivors include her husband, Dave; one brother, Larry (Carol) Neuhalfen; one sister, Ginger Neuhalfen; and three daughters, Shelly Bell, Joni (Brian) Zinke, and Julie (Brian) McConville; one son, Toby (Jackie) Fitzgerald, all of Mendota; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
JoAnn lived in Blue Earth, Lanark and then Mendota, where she graduated from high school. She then attended Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis, Minn. and graduated in March 1959. She was a wonderful stay-at-home mom while her girls were young and then worked at Badge-A-Minit in Oglesby. She was a wonderful, kind, loving and caring wife and mother always putting her family ahead of herself. She attended Victory Baptist Church and was a faithful follower of the Lord and loved Jesus with all her heart.
