MENDOTA - Joan R. Dennison, 88, of Mendota left this world on April 29, 2021.

Funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5 at the Wasmer Funeral Home, 2112 W. Main St., Mendota. Burial will take place at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4 at the funeral Home. COVID restrictions will be in place.

Joan was born Nov. 16, 1932 in Mendota, the only child of Walter and Viola Schmidt. She married Chester Dennison. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Charles Green of Mendota; three daughters, Karen (Mark) Maurer of LaPorte, Ind., Linda Isles of Courtland, Minn. and Angela (Ron) Robinson of Ottawa; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Neva Lopez; and two granddaughters, Keiki Green and Jessica Robinson.

Joan was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She raised five children with patience, discipline, and humility. She constantly gave of herself and of her time whether it be to her loved ones or in her community. This included singing with the Holy Cross choir, as a long-standing member of the Troy Grove Grange, as a member of the Humane Society, dedicating her time to the Camp Fire organization in the 1970s and 1980s, and organizing and supporting the annual Tri-County Fair farmers’ exhibitions. If you knew Joan, you loved her heart, her spirit and her recognizable laugh. Above all else, she was always thinking of others. Her grandchildren especially felt her love, as she was always opening her heart and her home anytime they needed her. Joan loved her flowers and gardening, sitting in her recliner doing her word searches, playing cards while listening to WGLC, and relaxing with her beloved cat, Callie. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their charity of choice in Joan’s name.
