BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. - Jill S. Rister, 65, of Blytheville, Ark., formerly of Mendota, passed away Oct. 21, 2017 at Great River Medical Center, Blytheville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 at First United Methodist Church, Mendota with Rev. Kent Svendsen officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27 at the church and from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Saturday.
Jill was born April 7, 1952 in Mendota to Robert and Vera (Ritter) Godfrey. She married Steve Rister on May 31, 1980 at Reynolds Church.
Survivors include her parents of Mendota; her husband of Blytheville; two brothers, James (Jean) Godfrey of Katy, Texas and David (Cathy) Godfrey of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Holly Full of Sublette; five nieces and nephews; one great-nephew; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Don Full in 2006.
Jill was a 1970 graduate of Mendota High School. She graduated from Illinois State University in 1979 with a degree in education. She worked at Barr’s Shoe Store and was a substitute teacher at Holy Cross School, Mendota and Allen Grade School, LaMoille. She and her husband owned and operated South Main Liquor Store in Mendota from 1988-1996. She worked at Nucor-Yamato Steel Company in Arkansas as an accounts receivable clerk.
