MENDOTA – On March 24, the Mendota Just For Kix teams competed in the Together We Dance Competition in Decorah at Luther College.

The event featured 24 competing teams which included over 1,100 performers. Mendota Just For Kix took nine teams to compete. Mini Hip Hop, Kick, Jazz, Lyrical, and Middle Kick, Junior Lyrical, Junior Hip Hop, Junior Jazz and Senior Kick classes performed. Places were as follows: Mini Hip Hop – 2nd Place, Mini Lyrical – 2nd Place, Middle Kick – 3rd Place, Junior Lyrical – 1st Place, Junior Jazz – 1st Place, Junior Hip Hop – 1st Place, Senior Kick – 3rd Place.

The Mendota Just For Kix program is in its 12th year of performance and includes local area students ages 3 to 12th grade. The Just For Kix local director is Rachel Moore. Head instructors and assistants are Mariah Wilkinson, Nya Ranel and Maren Wise.

“In just our second year attending the Decorah, Iowa Together We Dance Competition, it is truly amazing to bring home seven placements from our nine attending teams. I am so proud of the growth Mendota Just For Kix has had over the past few years, and we are excited to continue to watch it grow,” said Moore.

Mendota Just For Kix will wrap up its season with its Spring Show “Sea Cruise” on Saturday April 21 at 3 p.m. at Mendota High School.

The same nine teams will attend the Just For Kix Nationals in Rochester Minn., April 26-28.
