MENDOTA - Jerry L. Manning, 78, of Mendota passed away Jan. 9, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Hospital, Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15 at Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Jerry Graham officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14 at the funeral home.
Jerry was born March 30, 1939 in Mendota to Earl and Myrtle (Hampton) Manning. He married Gloria Jane White on Nov. 18, 1967.
Survivors include his wife of Mendota; two brothers, Earl Manning of Arizona and Rick (Mary) Meyers of Mendota; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Huberta Hibbetts and Janet Thomas; and one brother, Wayne Manning.
Jerry and his wife bought Beitsch Greenhouse on Jan. 1, 1968. They sold it in 1975 at which time he was working at Motor Wheel and mowing several lawns in Mendota. He went to work at Classon’s Foods and retired from Sullivan’s Foods. He bowled in many bowling leagues and enjoyed fishing trips to Chetek, Wis., playing cards and taking bus trips, especially to casinos.
