MENDOTA - A Celebration of Life for Jeff Faraher will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 28 at El Zarape Restaurant in Mendota. Jeff’s family invites those who knew him and wish to share memories and stories about him to join them at this casual gathering.

Jeff died suddenly at his home on May 14 following a complicated illness.

He was born Nov. 13, 1962 in Rockford to Dorothy W. Snyder and his step-father, John W. Snyder.

Survivors include two sons, Nicholas Austin Faraher and Nathan Alexander Faraher; and three siblings, Christy (Steve) Faraher-Amidon, Wendy (Drew) Dion and Ron (Vicky) Faraher.

Jeff graduated from Rockford Guilford High School in 1980. He worked many years at Aramark and most recently at Phelps The Uniform Specialists. He was known for his strength of character and sharp wit with a rapid-fire sense of humor. Despite the urging of his siblings, friends and co-workers, he never did try the stand-up stage. Those around him witnessed and experienced the convulsive, tears-streaming laughter he easily and regularly induced. Jeff was known as a kind and caring man who helped out his neighbors and unhesitatingly aided those in distress. He adored his sons and kept tight company with his best friend, Sioux, his rescue dog. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast. Hikes in the woods with Sioux, fall hunting trips, summer camping trips with his sons, motorcycle rides and boating were some of the ways he enjoyed being outdoors. His presence and essence will be mightily missed. His family gratefully acknowledges the love and support of long-time family friend, Bev Soderberg, through his recovery from illness, heart surgery and its aftermath.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to an Education Fund for Jeff’s children, Nicholas and Nathan. Donations may be made to Schwarz Funeral Home, 907 Jefferson St., Mendota, IL 61342.
