AMBOY - James E. Lane, 86, of Amboy, died July 9, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 12 beginning with a 10:30 a.m. prayer service at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy with Rev. Msgr. Thomas Bales officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Amboy with military honors by the Amboy American Legion. Visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11 at the funeral home with the Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.
James was born July 27, 1930 in Amboy to Emery and Mary (Keyes) Lane. He married Mary Stewart at St. Patrick Church in Amboy on Sept. 27, 1950.
Survivors include his wife of Amboy; three children, Mary (Thomas) Peters of Galesburg, Patricia (Leonard) Petrie of Dixon and Janet (Randel) Bennett of Dixon; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Noble of Amboy; and two special brothers, Norbert Brachle of Amboy and Daniel (Linda) Moyer of Eldena.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David E. Lane; one brother, Robert Lane; and one sister, Mary Ellen Kenney.
James worked at Conco in Mendota for 10 years and had also owned Precision Auto in Amboy. He was a master craftsman, mechanic and enjoyed working with wood and fishing. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
