MENDOTA - James C. Pohl, 72, of Mendota died Jan. 31, 2019.
Visitation was held from 1-3 p.m. on Feb. 3 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota followed by a rosary with Father Peter Pilon officiating. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements were handled by the Torman Funeral Home, Paw Paw with assistance from the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Jim was born Dec. 2, 1946 to Arthur and Jean (Billard) Pohl. He married Kaye O’Sadnick.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Kaye; two daughters, Sara (Steve) Vaught of Wayne and Kristine (Mike) Siwek of Orange County, Calif.; six grandchildren, Keaton, Kylie and Beckett Vaught and Parker, Quinn and Kellen Siwek; and one sister, Nancy (Herschel) Jones of Peru.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tom; as well as his beloved Stoli, the famous Shiba Inu pup of 10th Avenue, and his hopes for another Chicago Bears Super Bowl victory.
Jim served his country during two tours with the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War, retiring as a staff sergeant. Upon his return, he earned his degree in accounting from Illinois State University and spent his career as a CPA.
