PERU - An event for children ages 6 through 14 who have experienced the death of a family member or someone else close to them is being planned by Illinois Valley Hospice. Led by hospice social workers Dawn Moutray and Lisa Casford, the “My Treasure Chest” workshop will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m.–1 p.m.

Kids dealing with loss are invited to take part in the workshop at the IVCH 6th Street office building, 1305 Sixth St. in Peru. This is an activity that will allow children to remember their loved ones by creating their own unique treasure chest of memories.

There is no charge to attend the workshop. Illinois Valley Hospice will provide all materials and lunch. Each participant is asked to bring a photo or small keepsakes of their loved one.

Pre-registration for “My Treasure Chest” is requested by calling the hospice office at (815) 224-1307.
