LEXINGTON – The Mendota Holy Cross/LaSalle Trinity Holy Saints made it to the Elite Eight of the IESA 8-1A State Basketball Tournament where they lost to Pana Sacred Heart, 30-14, on Dec. 9 at Lexington.
Paige Manning and Avery Urbanski led the Holy Saints with four points each. Abby Nawa scored three points, Lia Bosnich had two and Leah Smudzinski added one.
The Holy Saints ended the season with an 18-2 record.
Pana Sacred Heart went on to defeat Hume Shiloh, 36-23, in the semifinals. Pana (26-1) played for the state championship against Lincoln West Lincoln-Broadwell (27-0) on Thursday, Dec. 14.
