UTICA – Starved Rock Lodge is now accepting reservations for its annual breast cancer awareness fundraising event called “Hike for a Cure.” This year, a pre-party is planned for Saturday, Oct. 5 on the Veranda of Starved Rock Lodge. “We’re going to have ‘Think Pink Drinks’ and live music from 8-11 p.m.,” said Des Ratajczak, food & beverage director at the Lodge, “We’re also going to sell raffle tickets as another way to support this worthwhile event.”

The Hike for a Cure will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6 on the Veranda. There will be four guided hikes (9, 9:30, 10 and 10:30 a.m.) or participants may hike on their own. Once registered, each hiker will get a pink “Hike for a Cure” T-shirt and a HOPE stone to carry with them as they depart from the Back Door Lounge and take a hike the top of Starved Rock. A light breakfast will be provided for participants. Pre-registration is required along with a fee of $20, which includes a donation to the local chapter of Relay for Life and the local Pink Ribbon Club. To register, please call (815) 220-7386 or sign up online at www.starvedrocklodge.com.
